It may feel as if you need to turn away, to numb, to resolve, to quickly find relief, but this is the old pathway that has been laid down in your network over billions of moments of abandoning the here and now. This was a necessary strategy that represented the best way you knew to take care of yourself, as a little one with a developing and tender nervous system.
Slow way, way down. See that you are okay. While it may appear urgent, you are here. You are online. Your heart is beating. The mere presence of an eruption of emotion, of a surging old narrative, and of a flood of feeling is not evidence that there is something wrong with you. Stay with the sensations as they rise and fall in your belly, in your torso, and in your heart. Infuse them with your presence.
While it may appear otherwise, you have capacities now that you did not have then. With curiosity, care, and slowness as your guide, see that you can hold and contain so much more than you imagine. Waves are washing in, not as obstacles or enemies, but as allies of integration, surging to be met and allowed back into the vastness, this time in a more integrated form.
As you return, over and over, into the aliveness of the somatic world, the knots will come undone. Never underestimate the power of love to unwind the tangles of a raw, tender, aching nervous system. Go toward the wounding and create a new pathway. As you do so, with a raging, uncompromising compassion as your guide, all that will remain is a luminous field of awareness, warmth, and creativity. This is what you are.
